Birdwatching
Situated along the bird migration route in Europe, Via Pontica, a habitat for nearly 270 bird species, the Lake Vaya is an important intermediate point and a place to stay for a large number of water, predatory and sparrow birds. Particularly numerous are the Pelecaniformes, Anseriformes, Charadriiformes, and Ardeidae birds. More than 100,000 waterfowl are collected annually during migration and wintering, some species with more than 1% of the biogeographic population threshold, including Cormorant Phalacrocorax carbo, Pygmy Cormorant, Dalmatian Pelican, Pelecanus Crispus, Cygnus cygnus, Crex crex, White-fronted Goose, Anser albifrons, White-headed Duck, Aythya ferina, Aythya fuligula, Branta ruficollis, Ixobrychus minutus.
